Hello
Hey, I'm Danny Preston. I play both electric & upright bass and I sing a bit too, almost exclusively with the InterstellarCollective which I co-founded with my musical partner Kinsey. As well as the groups that you can check out here on our BANDS page, Kinsey & I also perform as a DUO for some smaller events and intimate venues. We share a passion for performing live, which we do around 200 times a year, interacting with audiences and adapting to the vibe in any and every situation.
All of our live shows include the perfect mix of music during our sets but also very importantly outside of our live sessions; its my job to curate and prepare music playlists and DJ sets that go seamlessly along with our live sets to create complete evenings at all our events.
Additionally, I write and organise the arrangements for our bands and offer and arranging and transcription service to other professional groups; you can contact me directly about this service.
My Story
I have been a professional musician for my entire career and have performed all over the globe, including two world cruises on the QE2. During this time, I was fortunate enough to gain amazing experience and unforgettable memories, working alongside other young musicians like myself and also some big names in pop; UB40, Gerard Kenny, Petula Clark & Diane Shuur to name only a few.
In 2008 I began playing upright & electric bass with Schwing, which was Kinsey's first live band and a huge success on the event scene in the UK and further afield; we played at amazing venues in London, corporate events and weddings all over Europe and even as far as the middle-east.
In 2013, we formed Squid Lips - our cover/party band - and took that on a self-planned tour of the French Alps. This turned out to be a great success and we now have a permanent base in the mountains where we live and perform 100s of live shows. Our roster of live bands are available for bookings throughout Europe, the UK and beyond.
